Payahupaway is made for everyone!

BUT, this does not mean cultural appropriation!  What we mean by that is not to copy or look for the materials that we use. We hope to inspire you to seek your own roots. Where do you come from? What materials or plant  medicines did your ancestors use?

Jewelry Design & Material

All jewelry are one of a kind pieces.  Kinsinta works  with traditional materials of her people; such as  abalone, dentalium shells, clam shells, cedar  berries, & pinenuts. She likes to incorporate a modern touch with glass beads and crystals. She  doesn’t like to redo the same design, but will if  absolutely neccessary.

Beargrass

Beargrass is a traditional material her people weave  with. They implement her in their basketry and regalia. The grass spurts out after a cultural burn, &  they gather her in the summer.  She is a very special  mentor, teaching Kinsinta about connection to  place, learning awareness, gratitude, & so much  more. Ever since Kinsinta was a young girl,  beargrass has been with her through her daily activities, weaving braids everywhere she would go.

Appraisals

Appraisals are not just about knowing the value of your jewelry, but understanding its history. The  more conscience you are of the material, the  more you‘re able to wear in a good way.
